Overall our participants responded well to the price estimator tool because they want to have an understanding of the expected price of a particular project they are pursuing
While most participants had a positive response to the feature, half of our participants reported that they needed a better understanding and more information on how to use the feature.
To solve this problem, we added more text about the features benefits and how it works.
As the user interacts with the price estimate slider, the price amount responds on the right and the contractor results change based on the price estimator’s location on the scale
This convenient feature enables the user to then save their estimate on the particular project as well as post it to a contractor job board so that contractors are able to bid on the customer’s project.
During user testing, the most prominent issue was that participants had a difficult time locating the contractor directory under the resources tab. Most respondents said that they would like to be able to see the contractor directory button in the top navigation or somewhere else within the homepage.
Thus we answered our user’s needs by making a directory tab in the top navigation
We also changed the formatting of the contractor profile cards to have a cleaner, more balanced look as well as fixing spacing issues on the side bar
For the contractor profile page, one of our users stated that they would like to “Be able to add a description of a job before picking a contractor.”
Answering this user, we added a contact feature where the user is able to send a message about their home renovation project straight through the website’s contact feature.
We revamped the reviews section to be more in-depth where users are able to see a contractors full history of reviews and past projects- with upfront pricing information as well as viewing pictures and videos of projects.
We also built out a page to show the full expanse of projects that a contractor has done throughout their career.
